How come a commercial DVD disc can store longer
durations of video than a disc created with neoSTUDIO?
Generally, commercial DVDs are made in a dual-layer format
and hold up to 8.6GB on each side of the disc. This higher-capacity
format, known as DVD-9, is not writable; and it has to be
created in a commercial DVD manufacturing facility.
Commercial DVD movies are usually created with extremely sophisticated
and complex authoring tools that allow the creator to specify
how much compression is applied to each frame of video and
audio material. These advanced techniques can squeeze even
more video data onto a disc. In contrast, the MPEG encoder
in neoSTUDIO uses pre-set compression parameters to ensure
consistent balance between high-quality video and sound.

Why can't I encode the entire
content of my tape in one session?
Make sure that you have enough harddisk space, especially
if you are using a slower computer.
Make sure that the temporary working directory of neoDVD
is set on the disk where you have the most available space.
You can change the temporary working folder by clicking the
option button on the front of the neoDVD user interface.
Disable the stand-by mode of your computer.
Verify that you are not running a trial/evaluation version
of neoDVD. These versions have a time limitation per authoring
session (refer to the "How To" section to determine what version
of neoDVD is installed on your computer.)

Why am I able to import my file but when
I preview or burn it to disc the audio does not play?
The probable cause is that the audio codec used to make the
file is not supported by neoDVD. For best results, try uncompressed
audio.

Why does my file look 'OK' before I import
it, but when I burn it with neoDVD it drops frames or is distorted?
The best way to be sure that neoDVD will burn the file correctly
is to test it with Windows Media Player. Almost all files
that play well in Windows Media Player will play well when
burned with neoDVD.
Also, issues related to playback can be addressed by enabling
DMA on IDE, CD-R\RW, DVD-R\RW\RAM\+R\RW devices, defragging
the system Hard Drives, and updating the graphic and motherboard
chipset drivers.

Why does my DVD+RW (OEM device - Ricoh
5120) disc take such a long time to close, then my drive disappears
from Windows?
This happens in Windows XP Home with the Ricoh 5120 DVD+RW
device, the HP DVDi100 and some similar models from other
brands.
This is caused when the jumpers on the back of the burner
designate the drive as a SLAVE device. Configure the device
as MASTER and this problem disappears.
For information on how to configure jumpers, please see your
device's User Manual.
