My neoSTUDIO hangs when I try to launch any of the modules from the Taskbar. What can I do to resolve this problem?

In most cases, if the application crashes or hangs it is caused by a conflict or a problem between drivers that are being used, please update the following key components that play a major role in multimedia processing.

Note: If you already have the latest version installed on the system, it is possible it could be corrupted, which could cause this problem as well. Please re-install to make sure a proper and stable version is installed on the system.

1. Basic System Cleanup

  • Scan Disc all available Hard Drives
  • Clean Temp Directory
  • Defrag the boot and source drive (For performance)

2. Download and install latest drivers for the System:

  • Motherboard Chipset
  • Video Driver
  • Sound Card Driver
  • DVD Recorder Firmware

3. Download and install latest drivers for the Operating System:

  • Microsoft Service packs and any updates for your Operating System.
  • Multimedia Drivers and Application including MS Media Player and DirectX
  • Re-install neoSTUDIO

I am unable to install neoDVD on my computer. What do I do?

There are several fixes for installer issues, please refer to the following checklist.

CHECKLIST FOR INSTALLER

  1. Update stdole32.tlb in C:\windows\system32. Replace the file found there with the original on the system Windows Installation CD.
  2. Insufficient permission on the machine. If you are using a Windows 2000 machine, you need to have administrative permission to run an InstallShield Professional 6.x setup. Make sure you have the correct permission.
  3. If you just ran an InstallShield setup, the engine takes a few seconds at the end of the installation to clean up. During this time Ikernel.exe (the engine file) is running in memory from a previous process; that is why you are not allowed to launch another setup. Waiting a few seconds and running the setup again should resolve this.
  4. Check and make sure Ikernel.exe is not in memory; if it is and no setup is running at the time, end that task.
  5. Clean the temp directory.
  6. Delete the Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine folder and then rerun the setup.
  7. Reinstalling Internet Explorer 6.x can also repair a number of corrupted/missing core windows files from your machine.

I get an error message that says "CD Key is not valid" after I entered the product key that came with my neoDVD software

The CD Key is located on the case or envelope that holds the Install CD or in your Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) Order Confirmation e-mail. While entering the CD-Key, it is important not to confuse the letter 'O' for the number '0' or the lower-case letter 'l' for the number '1'.

I get an error message: "Error 1335 The cabinet file Data.cab required for this install is corrupt." during the installation of neoDVD

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

To change the memory settings for installation, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start and then click Run .
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig and then click OK.
  3. On the BOOT.INI tab, click Advanced Options.
  4. In the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box, select the /MAXMEM= check box, and then change the setting to 256 (or lower if your computer has less RAM).
  5. Click OK to close the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box.
  6. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Apply.
  7. Click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
  8. Click Restart to the following message: You must restart your computer for some of the changes made by Systems Configuration to take effect.
  9. After you restart your computer, install.
  10. After you install, follow steps 1 through 8 to clear the /MAXMEM= check box.

Method 2: Install by Using a Flat Folder
To install by using a flat folder, follow these steps:

  1. Clean boot your computer.
For additional information about how to clean boot Windows XP, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Q310353 How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP
  2. Save a flat copy of the CD-ROM to your computer's hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Start Windows Explorer. To do this, right-click Start and then click Explore on the shortcut menu.
    b. Create a new folder at the root of a hard disk volume, and then name it "Flatfile" (for example, C:\Flatfile).
    c. Browse to the drive that contains the CD-ROM, and then copy the entire contents of the CD-ROM into the C:\Flatfile folder. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. In Windows Explorer, click the CD-ROM icon (or DVD-ROM icon) containing the CD-ROM.
    2. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
    3. Paste all the files into the new folder. To do this, drag the selected items on the right side of the Explorer window into the C:\Flatfile folder on the left.

NOTE: If there are errors during the copy process, this can indicate problems with the CD-ROM (media), a dirty CD-ROM drive, or a problem with your hard disk. Restart your computer the way that you typically do, and then install from the C:\Flatfile folder onto your hard disk.

When I try to install the 4.1 software update a message pops up: "Unable to proceed with neoDVD upgrade installation. You do not have a correct version of neoDVD installed.
