Can I create a CD Extra disc that includes CD Text?

You cannot include CD Text when creating a CD Extra. You must record in DAO to record CD Text. But when recording the audio files onto a CD Extra disc, you must record in TAO. There are no plans currently to support recording CD Text in TAO, but you can use the following method to add CD Text after you have finished recording a CD Extra disc.

  1. Create the CD Extra disc.
  2. Create the CD Text.
  3. Copy the disc you created in step 1 in DAO with the CD Text.

Disc rescue fails and the message "this disc cannot be rescued" appears.

You can logically restore a disc using any drive with the Disc Rescue function, but you can physically restore a disc using a drive that supports this function only. Check your drive's documents for more details on the functions it supports.

Only TAO CDs can be rescued. Other types, such as audio CDs and DAO CDs, cannot be rescued.

You cannot manually set a CueSheet. neoRECORDER contains this functionality.

Does neoRECORDER support 90-minute discs, CD-single sized discs or discs of various shapes?

neoRECORDER itself has no restrictions as to the type of disc on which you record. As long as the drive can retrieve the disc information, you should be able to use the disc. However, MedioStream has not verified the use of 90-minute discs, CD-single sized discs or discs of various shapes with neoRECORDER.

CD-single sized discs and discs of various shapes may slip while they are spinning in the drive causing them to jam the drive. We recommend that you check if the maker lists any restrictions on the type of disc that can be used with the drive.

[Windows 98] neoRECORDER 7 is not stable.

If you get a message while recording, the computer freezes while recording, or a Windows unexpected error message appears, neoRECORDER 7 may be unstable for one of the following reasons.

  1. Check your drive connections and settings, especially if you are using a USB drive. Having multiple devices, especially devices using the same interface type (e.g. SCSI), connected to your computer may cause data transfer to be unstable. Try disconnecting all other devices.
  2. Do you have any third-party writing software installed on your computer? There may be conflict with the ASPI Manager. Uninstall all third-party writing software.
  3. The ASPI Manager may be unstable.
The ASPI Manager is the system file that communicates between the software and the hardware. neoRECORDER 7 uses the Windows standard ASPI Manager under Windows 98. If you have 3rd-party hardware software or drivers installed on your computer, the Windows standard ASPI Manager may have been overwritten when that software was installed. Reset the ASPI Manager using the ASPI Reset tool. If you could not reset the ASPI Manager using the Reset tool, try this method.
  4. Do you have any programs running in the background, e.g. virus checker or system agents? These types of programs are automatically launched when you startup Windows and are always running in the background. They may affect recording, so try exiting these programs then try recording again.

You can turn off background programs using the following method, so they do not automatically launch when you startup Windows. You can use the same method to turn them on again later.

Select [Run] from the [Start] menu to launch the System Configuration Utility. Enter "msconfig" in the "name" area and click [OK]. Under the [Startup] tab, uncheck "neoCLIP" and other running background software, then reboot the system.
  5. The disc you are using may not be compatible with the recording drive. Try using a brand of disc recommended by the drive maker. Check the maker's website or user's manual for more details on disc compatibility.
  6. Have you got the latest drive firmware installed?
The firmware is the program that is written on the drive itself that controls the drive functionality. You can check the drive firmware version in neoRECORDER 7 under the [Drive Settings] tab in the Options Properties window.

Check the firmware version. If there is a newer version, please update it. Check your drive manufacturer's website for more details.
  7. Are you using a power saver function?
Please deactivate this function while recording.
An error may occur during recording if you have enabled the Windows power saver function. Open the [Power Management] window from the Control Panel. Set the [Turn off hard disks] or [Turn off monitor] options under the [Power Schemes] tab to [Never].
  8. Other
Updating the software itself can improve it's performance. Try updating to the latest version of neoRECORDER 7.
